Inventarisatie voorkomende flora (1980 - heden)
This concerns the permanent inventories conducted by the flora working group of the Friends Association. In addition, there are incidental inventories carried out by various research institutes, such as within the framework of the Nature and Landscape Monitoring Network and (international) studies. All of this is based on specific research questions to be defined by the Park in consultation with Floron and the Friends of Hoge Veluwe Association.

Hart van de Veluwe (2011 - 2016)
This study tracks the effects of the fence lowering on species, habitats, and the Park's nature management. This will be done by monitoring butterfly routes and herbaceous vegetation, recording (changing) wildlife densities in the Park, and potentially tracking transmitter-equipped deer. Several previous internship assignments and studies will serve as a baseline for this fence lowering.

Kiezelwieren geven aan: zwavel en stikstof houden vennen in de greep (2020)
In nature management, little attention is paid to microscopic aquatic life, except when algal blooms cause nuisance. Nevertheless, some algal groups, such as diatoms, provide valuable information about the acidification and eutrophication status of fens, not only today but also from a century ago.

Kiezelwieren van herbariummateriaal uit het Beekbergerwoud (2021)
The felling of the Beekbergerwoud, in the period 1869-1871, decided the fate of a swamp forest thousands of years old. Diatoms on herbarium material of aquatic and marsh plants from the years 1834-1854 provide information about the environmental conditions at that time and offer insight into the potential of the area for nature restoration.

Sieralgen en verzuring: een eeuw monitoring in drie vennen (2022)
Over the past hundred years, the natural value of fens has declined dramatically, as evidenced by inventories of desmids: microscopic green algae with beautiful shapes. The desmid flora was monitored in three fens between 1916 and 2014, with multiple annual samplings since 1978. The species composition has changed significantly, primarily due to acidification. The shifts are greatest in fens with flat banks, which are exposed to the air during extremely dry summers. After the dry summer of 1921, the changes were small, but after the dry summer of 1976, they were dramatic, as sulfur and nitrogen compounds from the soil acidified the water. The natural value declined, but rose slightly again in the 1980s, thanks to the reduction in acidifying deposition. Despite this continued decline, the desmid flora has not recovered. On the contrary: the natural value has declined further. In particular, the chemical dynamics resulting from the stock of sulfur and nitrogen compounds that has built up in the fen soils over a century hinder the development of rare desmid species; these are typically dependent on stable environmental conditions.

Fauna

1950

NIOO (1950 - heden)
This study represents a long-term ecological investigation, to the best of current knowledge the longest-running ecological study worldwide. Within this research framework, detailed records are maintained on the timing and clutch size of egg-laying across species. Furthermore, the development of nestlings is systematically monitored, alongside phenological data such as budburst in tree species and the abundance of caterpillars. The study has established a correlation between global climate warming and the reproductive success of the great tit.
NIOO - Marcel Visser

This research report focuses on the question of how changes in the diet of wild boar in De Hoge Veluwe National Park affect the intensity of rooting behavior. An important factor in this context is the influence of external environmental changes. Therefore, a sub-question investigates how climate change and nitrogen deposition impact the diet of wild boar in this area.
